The 1000sq ft space, which forms the new office, was badly mauled by its earlier occupant, and plagued by severe damages from leakage and disrepair. Thus the original building was totally unrecognizable from what it must have been. The Client enthusiastically adopted the Architect's suggestion to restore the structure instead of imposing another "corporate posture" on the defaced building. The conservation effort was undertaken in consultation with Vikas Dilawari and the black basalt and Porbunder limestone facade was painstakingly brought back into existence.
The translucent glazed archway with
its grilled metal night door now forms the main entrance
to this standalone office block and affords whatever maximum
natural light possible to penetrate the lower storey which
comprises the ground level and an intermediate level. The
office space itself though small in plan uses creative,
detail oriented construction in the form of partition, richly
coloured finishes and materials and carefully chosen furniture
and fixtures.
